Save all Zero duration Tasks to maintain the integrity of the network structure when the CCPM Schedule is generated. Exepron will develop a new CCPM schedule which includes the zero (0) duration tasks. This feature allows the creation of Project Re-Plan Versions while maintaining the dependency connections in the Project Network.
Zero Duration Tasks are placeholders for the Project Network Structure.
Warning: Don’t start the Zero Duration Task until the Calendar date of these tasks is achieved. Starting Zero Task too soon will “pull” the dependency chain to the left and towards today’s date. This runs the danger of creating a premature Resource overload situation.
With a replanned Project or Version of a Project that contains Zero Duration Tasks, and during Execution, Users will have to “Start” the zero Tasks when reaching the calendar location. This action will stop the Zero Task from starting and “pulling” a successor dependency chain to the left.
Why might Zero Duration Tasks be in the RED and Requiring Immediate Attention?
‘Not-Started’ Zero Duration Tasks to the left of today’s date can turn RED as they are ‘late’ and require updating.
They are placeholders and, as such, are regarded as active Tasks. They need to be treated as any other Task and require ‘Starting’ to change the status to finished by ‘Starting’ the Task.
